Harrison's Story

A few weeks ago, a close friend of mine, Melanie, lost her little boy. His name was Harrison. His funeral was one of the saddest, most heartbreaking things, and I will never forget it. The sight of that tiny coffin, and the absolute grief of the family and everyone there is something that will stay with me forever. I will never forget the look of pure grief on the face of Mel's husband, as he carried the coffin containing his son, out to the hearse. I can't even begin to imagine what it must be like to lose a child. I don't even like to think about it.

Harrison was on this earth for such a short time, but he will never be forgotten. Mel has a blog for Harrison, that was to document his fight for life. Although he lost that fight, Mel is continuing Harrisons blog, to keep his memory alive, and to maybe even reach out to others who have gone throught the same thing.

I would appreciate it so much, if all my friends out there in blog land, could stop by Harrison's blog and read his story, and maybe offer some words of support to Mel. It would mean so much.

On my way to check it out now, I can't imagine what your friend is going though, it must be the most unbearable pain... my thoughts are with them, and you at this time xxx

I have been to two newborns funerals in my life and they are THE most awful, awful things. You are right Sam, the coffin is the worst. I visited Harrisons blog and shed a few tears but I had no idea what to say.

I stopped by and left some words Sam. So hard to know what to even say to someone going through this, let alone someone I've never met before. What a beautiful baby, what a sad story!

Wow Samantha. My heart is broken. I cannot imagine how it felt for you to watch on this day let alone how Mel and her hubby felt. I did pop over to her blog and will go back to it to offer my support. I could not get through it all as it is really heart wrenching but for her I will go back and read every little bit. Thanks for sharing such a special story.
